Well, here it is, almost fall in Indiana. This is my favorite time of the year. The air seems fresh and clean. The temperatures are just right. I love seeing the leaves change to their vibrant colors of fall. It is amazing to see the changes that each season brings.
Just as with the seasons of the earth, I believe there are many different seasons that we experience in our lives throughout the years. We can go through different seasons at home, with our families, in our careers, etc. I know personally, that I have gone through many different seasons in my adult life. Some of which I would like to forget, others I want to cherish forever.
Sometimes I think I could write a book about “What not to do in Life”.
Do you ever say to yourself, “This is the day, month, year that I am going to do________”? I have. And quite seldom it hasn’t happened. Due mostly in part to me not doing what I said I was going to do.
There are those times in life, (seasons) that make it very difficult to do the things we know need to be done or the things we are wanting to do. It is in these times that we can allow ourselves to be frustrated, aggravated, depressed, etc. That list could go on.
I personally have felt many of these feelings throughout my life. I have felt like I have to do everything on my own. But, what I have started to learn is, that you don’t have to walk alone. You don’t have to feel like you have to go through whatever it is by yourself.
I am very blessed to have someone very special in my life (my wife-to-be) that does nothing but encourage me, helps me and has taught me so much. I also have the best family I could ever ask for. Of course I am partial, they are my family…
I guess my point to all of this is, that just as the seasons of spring, summer, fall and winter come and go, so do the seasons in our lives. Some of these will be good, some will be not so good. Some you will want to forget and others you will want them to last forever. But, remember, they will not last forever. Good or bad. Not saying you won’t have multiple good seasons in your life, but we know the only thing certain in our daily lives is “Change”.
So, take each day as it is given to you. Embrace it, take hold of it and make something of it!
One last thing, I heard something from a famous actor during an award ceremony and thought that it was just what myself needs and that many others could as well.
“There are three things that I need everyday, I need something to look up to, I need something to look forward to and I need something to chase” Matthew McConaughey
His comments on this were that these three things keep him going each and every day. They drive him to do his best at whatever he does.
I know what my answers are to these three things. What are yours?
Until next time…
